Home / Reintroduction of the bearded vulture in the Picos de Europa
We begin with a visit to the Visitor Center of the Bearded Vulture Conservation Foundation in Benia de Onís. There, we'll learn all about the details of how the bearded vulture is reintroduced to the Picos de Europa.
The technicians will go a little further. We'll be able to see how each specimen is individually tracked using the GPS tracker, and we'll see details of the project that aren't shown to the general public. It's a unique opportunity.
Next, we'll go in search of these vultures in the Covadonga Lakes area, at the Mirador de la Reina, where food is provided on Fridays to teach young bearded vultures social habits. This is the best day to enjoy observing various types of vultures and eagles.
It is possible that, together with the project technicians, we can try to find some specimens using field tracking equipment.
