Programme

Day 1
On the first afternoon, we'll experience "The Enigma of the Basque Language," where we'll learn about one of Europe's most ancient cultures and learn to speak a few words in Basque, one of the continent's oldest languages. This tour takes place in Zumaia's historic center and concludes with a pintxo tasting at a gastronomic society.
Day 2
In the morning, we will sail from Zumaia to Mutriku, passing through Deba and back, to explore the Geopark's coastline from a geological and cultural perspective. Throughout the tour, we will receive explanations about the main features of the flysch and the ways of life and traditions that were once most important in this area: shipbuilding in Zumaia, trade in Deba, and whaling in Mutriku. Visitors will have approximately one hour of free time to visit the port and the historic center of Mutriku, declared a Monumental Site. Afterwards, we will return to Zumaia by boat. Free time for lunch in Zumaia. The afternoon is free. At dusk, we will go to the Txindurri Iturri Agrotourism and Cider House, where we will learn about the local organic produce of the area (vegetables, fruit, and their derivatives) through a brief tour. Dinner will be served at the cider house. We will enjoy a menu prepared with local seasonal produce and also sample the cider made at Txindurri Iturri.
Day 3
In the morning, you can choose between two options: a hiking route to explore one of the most spectacular flysch areas in Elorriaga and Sakoneta, or a more relaxing option in the fishing village of Mutriku. In Mutriku, you'll visit the Nautilus Interpretation Center, home to one of the world's most important paleontological collections, and the Mutriku wave plant. Located in the port, the plant is a landmark in the history of wave energy, as it is the first wave plant in Europe to commercialize the energy it generates.
