Home / Tidal Safari
We'll discover incredible animals on the coast and also learn about aspects of aquaculture, as we'll see marine farming structures, rafts, cages, and more.
We'll visit spots along the rocky coast that are perfect for exploring. We'll observe tidal pools, discover animals under the rocks, and experience seaweed, which you can then eat in some of the Biosphere Reserve's restaurants. You'll enjoy the amazing wildlife, which you can only see when the tide lets you in.
We will also learn about aspects of aquaculture, as we will explore marine farming structures, rafts, cages, etc.
We'll play a game of capturing as many photos of different species as possible, learning about the intertidal ecosystem. We'll also gather information to see how it's evolving. This way, we'll help protect it while we learn and enjoy ourselves.
In the event of a storm at sea that prevents us from carrying out the activity due to the waves, we will take a coastal route to safely view the rough sea:
Visit the Costa de Dexo Natural Monument, with its geysers (furnas), which on these days offer a kind of geyser-like appearance, as is the case at other points along the Cantabrian Coast; and visit a fishing port on a day when sailors are not allowed to go out to sea.
That's why we can do this activity almost any day of the year. The only thing that matters is the timing of the tide or the presence of storms on land.

– We also collaborate in the cleanup and conservation of the estuary you visit by participating in or leading volunteer work.
– Guided by local experts.
– The activity is designed for small groups (maximum 15 people) and avoids sensitive and crowded areas, minimizing negative impacts on the environment.
– Environmental content in digital format and loan of intertidal guides, to avoid the use of brochures.
– Identification and citizen science apps will be used.
– Single-use plastics will not be used, and the importance of waste reduction will be communicated. People will be encouraged to collect any waste they find and consider it for observations.
